The aim of the next two years is to bring you to the B1 level, so we will focus on the four basic skills:
- Speaking (group work / reading aloud / presentations)
- Listening (recordings / movies / Ted Talks)
- Reading (newspaper articles / literary books such as the Great Gatsby, The curious incident of the dog in the night, George Orwell's 1984).
- Writing (letters / essays)
My job is to fulfill your needs during the learning process, I am here to help you, but also to make sure you reach the goals.
Here is some basic advice to increase your chances of success:
- Listen and read in English as much as possible
- Work regularly; learn your vocabulary on a weekly basis
- Use English as the class language – oral participation is needed and strongly recommended
- When you don’t understand something, ask me
- If something is wrong (e.g. rhythm too slow/fast, homework, tests…), tell me
- Remember that mistakes are part of the learning process, do not laugh at each other and try to express yourself freely
Classroom rules :
- You are almost adults, I expect you to follow the course of your free will. If you disturb me you will simply be asked to leave. Know that I do not have time to enter into endless negotiations, if you are asked to leave, just do it.
- Do not speak while I or another student are speaking.
- During group work you can speak normally, but there is no need to shout
- I expect you to do your homework, but I will not systematically check it. Just know that there can be a test at anytime
- Come with your books!!! If you don’t have them you’ll simply be asked to leave the class and do some extra work at the library.
